It has been some time now that I have been flip flopping through different mmo’s. From world of warcraft to guildwars 2, then back to world of warcraft and on to star trek online. Bah …
It’s not that they are bad game, I’ve played them both long enough to know that is not the case, but I have become so bored of chasing the little carrot on a stick with these type of mmo’s. Maybe it is my age, maybe I’ve just grown out of them, who knows.
So … Eve Online.
I have tried the free trial several occasions over the years. Never got past the first 2 days. Complex, high learning curve, did I mention complex. No on rails experience. No handholding. Pretty much a newbie deathtrap. Especially knowing the game has been around for a long couple of years already, yeah, that makes any new person feel left behind real fast.
But this time I said to myself, try it at least until the free trial ends. And so I am. I’ve done most of the tutorials this time, which as it seems have been altered a lot and make a lot more sence this time. Doing them have netted me a little ISK and a bunch of starter ships. Not bad. Not so daunting anymore. You don’t feel as isolated as before. You’re already been given a set of skillpoints, and the game does a very good job of telling you what is what and what to expect.
So what now?
