… has been:
– A lot of work
– Filled with adrenaline
– Filled with boring
– Staring at the skill queue
– Staring at the skill descriptions
– Figuring out EVE fitting tool
– Figuring out EVEmon
– Tinkering with EFT and EVEmon
– More confusing
– Meeting cool people in a corp
– Doing a corp roam for the first time
– Sitting at a POCO starting at nothing for the first time
I’m sure there are loads of other things I’ve missed somehow.
So far, it has been a weird ride.
There’s lots of things I like, but there are also lots of things I don’t like.
For instance, the PVP. You either go as a solo ninja, or you roam in a group.
If you are solo, you either come across another person solo, and you fight. If you are a kiting ship and your opponent is not, then you kite. If you fail, you die. If your opponent is also a kiting ship, then you slug it out and the dude with the biggest guns wins.
If you are a brawling ship, and your opponent is not, then you tackle. If you fail, you die. If your opponent is also a brawler ship, then you slug it out, and the dude with the biggest guns and best tank wins.
If you are in a group, you either come across single opponents, and you rape them. Or you come across a bigger group, and you get raped. Or you dock up, or you warp … In the event you come across a similar sized group, well then it becomes the whole kite tackle thing again, mixed with some logi stuff if you have any.
And then there is the huge space opera you see in the blog posts about 1000’s of ships battling it out. Yeah I guess that happens, but what I read about it makes me wonder if playing a slideshow is any fun. Don’t get me wrong, the whole alliance/SOV political drama coalition stuff is epic and interesting as hell. What ever game could allow for such a permanent impact on server / community level? I can think of very few.
The latest huge battle where trillions of ISK worth of ships were destroyed, and got honored by CCP with an ingame monument and all, damn, impressive dudes. But it doesn’t interest me that much, personal game play wise I mean.
This pilot called Zappity inspired me a little bit. Reading about his/her piloting adventures in low sec made me want to do all that to. I guess I’m rushing things to fast.
