Is a game a lot of people like to play. I decided to go roaming out of my comfort zone. Just from system to system, trying to get as much information about numbers in local, where are the favorite mining spots of people. Also, I have set up a lot of safe spots in all the systems I’ve been in yesterday. This makes going back to them a lot easier.
Anyway, I finally come across a Venture, I pin it down in an asteroid field. My blood starts rushing through my veins, my heart is pumping like a madman. I know, freakin’ silly for you veterans, but remember I’m new to this ok?
I do everything right. I land almost on top of him. Target lock, and immediately start scrambling. Bam, I get him pinned down, he’s not going anywhere. You are mine, you are going down! Grrrrr …
For some reason I still don’t know, but I pre-aligned to a safe spot. Guess this is the evenings of roaming low sec that is finally paying of. It’s getting to me, I’m starting to do the important stuff without thinking.
Right after I started opening fire to the Venture, 2 other ships warp in right next to us. S H I A T. What the hell? Did he have backup? Are they alt characters? Competition gankers? Who the fuck are these guys??
Remember, I’m sitting in a crappy fitted Atron frigate, who has no desire to take on two other pirates just to get his Venture kill. So I warp out to my pre-aligned safespot.
And it’s a good thing I did, because the d-scan I did right after I landed in my safe revealed the following.
So even though yesterday was a little bit disappointing, I had a lot of fun. And that is mainly because of a guy who kept chasing me in a system. Can’t remember which system, or what he was flying (think it was a cruiser), but he kept d-scanning me down and jumping on me. And he was good at it too. I had two very narrow escapes where he got to about 80 km of me. The rush at the very moment when you see a red flashing ship closing in on you, damn …
I’m now working on the Electronics Upgrades V skill, necesasry for the Nemesis ship. It’s funny, but all this roaming low-sec really opened my eyes. I thought it would be suicidal to do this all by myself, but so far I’ve only lost a ship because of my own lack of knowledge and newbiness. Yea yea, I won’t be taking on everybody and their mother, but that is certainly not my intention.
I’m still contemplating the high-sec wardeccing strategy. There are so so many juicy targets out there mining away quietly, and here I am going sherlock holmes in low-sec looking for a target. The fact remains, this is not an option as long as I am just a member of a corporation, even though it’s a cool one.
One other venture I’d like to investigate is that of the scavenger. There’s plenty of pewpew going around in New Eden, so being all cloaky and stuff would allow for some serious ninja-killing or looting.
But I’m no longer considering flying only a stealth boat. If you’re paying attention and know how to align and safe, lurking low-sec is doable without getting shot all the time.
