For some unknown reason to me, I’ve started playing EVE Online (again). I can’t really put my finger as to why. Maybe because I’m getting older, all the fast reflex paced stuff these days doesn’t do it for me anymore.
I like the solitude. Yes lets leave it a that.
But a lot of things have changed, or so it seems.
Five years it has been. Five years since my last blog entry. The way of the ninja, that’s what I was getting into.
But it’s also why I burned out so many times of the game. To much focus on a single way of playing the game. Being a mission ninja is very very tedious. For every 10 people who’s pocket you invade there’s maybe 1 that has the potential to get triggered.
But like I said, a lot of stuff has changed
The Alpha and the OmegaThe game is now free to play
Which is a good thing I guess. More people to start playing, means more potential retention? I for sure upgraded both accounts to Omega. The added skill training bonus, plus the fact it supports CCP
There’s some sort of PVE solo content called The Abyss deadspaceWhere you get filaments and warp into an instanced piece of mission content. Twenty minutes or your ships goes byebye. Sounds pretty nice. So going to try this. Looks great as well.
A lot of scruffy-looking-bloggers I followed seem to have stopped playingWhich is not that weird, maybe. EVE has been around forever, and people move on. But solo pirating and no-goodery seem to be on a dying spectrum in the game. Maybe I’m mistaken. No clue, guess we’ll have to find out the hard way
There’s an ingame fitting toolAll I can say is finally. And it is awesome to say the least. To bad for some reason the charges always disappear when opening a saved fitting.
So what’s my game plan?
For starters, doing a bit of everything. I’m not going to make the same mistake as last time, where I just scout and scout and invade people’s pockets over and over and over.
I’m doing a lot of exploring lately, and I’m actually getting quite good at scanning and probing down signatures. The hacking mini game is actually easy once you get the hang of it. I see myself day tripping into wormholes in the near future.
There’s also combat sites to explore and scan, that lead to escalations or whatever. A lot of potential here for the way of the ninja. Definitely need to look this stuff up.
PVP in low-sec looks the same when I left five years ago. A bunch of dedicated people warping from gate to celestial and back. Hoping to get the edge, either flying very dedicated and expensive boats that chew you up, or the Call of DutyEve branch that enjoy throwing cheap(ish) frigates at each other.
In short, my scan alt is doing well getting all the necessary scanning skills, and my main is finishing of some essential V skills. Then I’m getting some missile skills because I want that sexy Gila for Abyss PVE dead space. Did I mention that is an expensive piece of booty?
